108386 - All info in user profiles disappears; must recreate profile on every session

On every start of Mozilla 0.9.5 I am prompted to import a profile from Netscape
4.x. All of the settings that I import or edit disappear for future sessions
even though I can confirm that new profile directories were created during my
previous session. (Using Netscape Nav 6.2 I get identical behavior.)

I believe I can pinpoint the source of the trouble, however.

My only Netscape 4 profile was named using a single space character rather than
a  text name. (When I created the default profile some time ago I didn't feel
like completing the profile wizard and I simply hit the space-bar in each field
so that the wizard would allow me to go on.)

Once I used the profile manager in Netscape 4.X to rename my only profile as
"default"everything has worked fine.
