User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10_9_5) AppleWebKit/600.1.17 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/7.1 Safari/537.85.10
Steps to reproduce:
Nothing. I remember I had the icon when Beta 33 was released. After a while it was missing I thought it was removed, now, Firefox 34 is supposed to have it again but I cannot see it, I reseted Firefox to default settings and nothing. Chat / Phone icon doesn't appear in the toolbar not in the customise section, I tried about:config to see was a flag turned off, but nothing. I am on a Macbook Pro, Mavericks. Thanks
Expected results:
Be able to call using Firefox Hello WebRTC
AFAIK it's present in Aurora.

Because this feature is not offered to all Beta users (I guess it will be the case later).
You can change that by switching loop.throttled to false in about:config.

Just now I've asked a friend to install Firefox Beta and give me a Firefox Hello call. He uses a desktop Mac. We were unable to make that button show up, as if it wasn't there at all. loop.throttled was set to false after installation (although it was registered as a user-set value).

Did you restart the browser after setting the pref to false?

We did not exactly set it to false. It was set to false right after installation, although it was registered as a user-set value. I don't think Firefox has ever been installed on that computer before.
But yes, we did restart the browser several times, tried to restore customization defaults for the menu palette (it wouldn't let us, because we had no customizations, but we made some and then restored defaults), then tried to reset Firefox via Troubleshooting Options page (I've checked afterwards, loop.throttled was still set to false) and nothing helped.
You need to open the customization menu (about:customizing) to add the Hello icon (it's a speech bubble) in the toolbar.

We did, it wasn't there.
Did you test with a fresh profile?

I believe your bug will be resolved with Bug 1084097, which landed in Beta yesterday and will go out in Beta2 (which becomes available either tomorrow or Wednesday). In the meantime, your friend can try Hello in Nightly or Aurora.

Alright, thank you. Then we'll continue our experiments when it comes out, even though he grows tired of "trying unfinished features when Skype works just fine".
Is there any hope that my own problem (Bug 1085583) will be resolved in it?

I just tried installing FF 34 beta and running on a new profile. I don't see a speech bubble in the customization menu.

Yes, same here, the difference for me was that on profile was throttled and the other was not.

This should be working now, providing you aren't throttled. If you are throttled, you can unthrottle yourself by setting loop.throttled=false in about:config and restarting Firefox. You should then see the icon in Customize mode and should be able to add it to your toolbar.
Please reopen this bug if you are still unable to after updating to Firefox 34.0 Beta 2.

Can we fix the support docs so people stop filing bugs about it being broken, though?

Yes, we're updating the Hello support page that the user referenced now (within the hour).
