Steps to reproduce:

View Verdana font text in Firefox 32.0.2 (latest on Windows 7). The size tested is 9px.


Actual results:

It renders too large compared to other modern browsers (IE10+, FF, Chrome, Safari) on both Mac OS X (10.7.5) and Windows 7.


Expected results:

The Verdana font text should not appear to be a full px size larger.

I checked FF33 on win 7 this morning ( it's been updated to version 33 from 32), but the text still looks the same as in the attached screenshot.

This shows a very different font size (in terms of actual device pixels) from the reporter's screenshot, perhaps due to different screen resolution settings. So it's not really comparable.

The Firefox and IE renderings show quite different hinting/antialiasing behavior. This may reflect the use of different font backends (GDI vs DirectWrite), perhaps related to whether hardware-accelerated rendering is enabled. Please check the Graphics section of about:support, and report what it shows there; this may help reveal why you're getting different rendering.
