Currently, if you rotate the device, it immediately snaps to the new orientation. This feels a bit jarring and low-tech, we should have some kind of transition here. I suggest a rotate+cross-fade, which ought to be do-able by taking an app screenshot before rotation, I suppose?
Lets see what UX thinks about this.

Flagging Gordon. Need to know which device and build this was observed on, though, so we can repro. Please attach a video if possible.

Every device, every build. We've never had rotation transitions. Go to any website or app that supports a landscape orientation and rotate the phone, assuming it has the necessary sensor (which most, if not all, do).
Ah, so it's a feature request. In that case, marking for 2.3? for now - low priority compared to other goals for 2.2. Also leaving Gordon flagged.
