if you go to http://gemal.dk/test/news.html you'll see that the line height is too small. In IE it's rendered fine. On http://gemal.dk/test/news2.html I've added line-height: 20px and then then line height seem ok. So there's something wrong with the default line height. build 20011106

the online testcase is no longer there...

Is this a recent regression? When you initially filed it I thought it was a regression from my changes the day before, but is it? And what is the expected behavior on the "reduced testcase" -- I don't really see a problem there.
Component: Style System → Layout
it was just that: http://bugzilla.mozilla.org/showattachment.cgi?attach_id=56773 is rendered different in Mozilla and in IE. In IE there's more space between the line. Bug in Mozilla or IE? and when having non-existing images like in: http://bugzilla.mozilla.org/showattachment.cgi?attach_id=56770 it's all wrong
Target Milestone: mozilla0.9.6 → mozilla0.9.7
Some weird things with attachment 56773 [details]: - the 'width' property is ignored (on both class declarations) - the padding property is ignored too (changing to a large value or changing to 'margin' doesn't make a difference) - adding 'border: 1px solid black' shows overlapping boxes.
None of the things rbs mentioned in his previous comment are bugs. the padding should affect the position of the border and background, but not the position of anything else, and width should not apply. (since the relevant elements are non-replaced inline elements.)
So IE is getting all these wrong then. What about the margin?
margin should never do anything on inline non-replaced elements
Judging by the comments, I think the difference between Mozilla and IE is that IE is interpreting box properties incorrectly on inline non-replaced elements. It should be using the 'line-height' and 'vertical-align' properties to do line layout, not the box properties. Marking invalid, since the bug is in IE.
