+++ This bug was initially created as a clone of Bug #1072773 +++

SQLite 3.8.6.1 has been released with a special change to fix bug 1072773.  We do not plan on enabling this mode by default, so we have decided not to bump the required version in configure.in.

This change will probably not appear in mainline SQLite until 3.8.8, so if we decide to take 3.8.7 (bug 1084437) we'll need a 3.8.7.1 with at least this change.
