Repro Steps:
1) Update a Flame to 20141024040202
2) Turn phone to Afrikaans 
3) Go to homescreen
4) Observe the Status bar 


Actual:
Under lapping text


Expected:
No Under lapping text

Issue also occurs in belarusian, Bosnian, catalan, Czech, Fulah, Malay, Welsh,  irish, Dutch, Gailician, polish,Portuguese, Greek, Hungarian, Russian, Spanish, Slovak, songhai, Basque, Lithuanian and Swahili

a last bit of information on this, this issue will go away when phone is reset on a non-affected language, if it is left on effected language issue will stay. Also switching from an effected language to a non-effected language will not dismiss the issue with out a phone reset.

nominating this a s 2.2 blocker. The status bar is overlapping, and the user should always be able to see icons clearly in the status bar. also this is a regression

We've had to update some l10n patterns around status bar that resulted in 2.1 localizations not working in 2.2 (master).

Languages need to update their strings. We will not release with broken strings, but until they do the UI will have those artifacts in those locales.

Unfortunately, we did not set gaia-l10n to track master yet, so it is impossible for localizers to do that right now.

We can keep this bug open and once gaia-l10n switches to master we will evangelize localizers to update their translations and once we get most of locales working we can close it.

It should not be blocking, but it will be visible for some time. I don't know how to mark it, but it's the third bug I see reported against the same problem.

Please, do not test l10n master, it doesn't make sense because localizations are not translating 2.2 yet.

I can reproduce this in Spanish, English (GB and US), and French using base image 188 and the latest OTA updates. I have the same issue in my Keon.

Verified the issue is fixed on 2.2 Flame as per comment 12, the fix for bug 1091113 fixed the issue
