Details

This bug is created to track implementation of Google Analytics, which is included in the project brief. We'll need to confirm a scope for what we will implement on the page for tracking. First delivery of the prototype was a one page app, so GA integration will likely be heavy in event firing. We'll also have to determine if it's better to implement this while Work&Co are still under contract (Nov 18), or if we can wait until the January launch. Note: there is nothing in the Work&Co agreement for analytics. Let's plan to kick this off the first week of November.
Gareth, will you please set up the GTM account and corresponding GA? If possible, I'd like to have access to create Macros, Tags and other objects on the account. Thanks!
Component: Analytics → Web Analytics

Product: www.mozilla.org → Websites
Cory, What is the domain going to be for Project Lorax? I'll set up the GTM and corresponding GA account. Please let me know. Thanks. Gareth

Hi Gareth, The URL will be: https://mozilla.org/<locale>/shapeoftheweb Will I be able to test this on localhost until the deployment date? Thanks
Given that this sub-site is so much different, what do we think about a profile under mozilla.org web property with a filter specific to that directory?
We don't really have a lot of web properties left under our (big websites) account. Unless it is going to have a ton of ongoing traffic, then I don't think it needs to be separated out. We could easily create a custom report for that url like we do our other experiences.
Also, if it is going to live on our main mozilla.org property, we haven't yet transferred that domain over to GTM. So depending on when this goes live, we may have to tag interactions with the devs help (like we currently do) instead of via GTM. Cory, you should also be able to test GA locally as well. What demo server is this going to be set up on? Gareth
Hi Gareth, (In reply to Gareth Cull [:garethc] from comment #5) > We don't really have a lot of web properties left under our (big websites) > account. Would this give it its own Tracking ID? Can it live under the "(small websites)" property? I know you can configure a GTM container with Tag Type = Classic Analytics. Ideally we'd use GTM since we don't have any serious JS resources assigned to this project. > Cory, you should also be able to test GA locally as well. (In reply to Gareth Cull [:garethc] from comment #6) > So depending on when this goes > live, we may have to tag interactions with the devs help (like we currently > do) instead of via GTM. https://github.com/mozilla/lorax/pull/12 has been opened implementing Universal Analytics without GTM. > Cory, you should also be able to test GA locally as well. The PR is configured for a property I set up on my Google account. Once we're ready to go live (end of Q1), I'll work with you to get it into the Mozilla account.
