Right now, we have several different ways to strip the non-needed global symbols from a component library. I want to consolidate that into a single method or at least a single variable that controls it. Maybe something similar to how coreconf does it. (Did I actually say that?) Shaver: Currently, OS/2 & AIX (& soon to be HPUX) only keep the NSGetModule symbol while Linux keeps NSGetModule, NSGetFactory, NSRegisterSelf & NSUnregisterSelf. Are all of these still needed?

Doug, we no longer need to worry about the NSGetFactory, NSRegisterSelf & NSUnregisterSelf entry points, right?
right. there may be some plugins which we don't want to strip these entry points.... but for most of the libraries, these entry points are invalid.... don't just strip them out, but remove the code that creates them. I would be surprized if there were may libs that still exported these old routines.
well build/unix/gnu-ld-scripts/components-version-scripts exports all of these. So while these might not be part of any component, they are still being exported

Pretty sure we're doing reasonable things with stripping in the modern build system and no longer need this bug.
