Details
Spun off from Bug 1089940 Comment 17. In short, if we're loading something like a data: URI page, we know that: * The favicon is embedded in the 'page' * We shouldn't write it to disk (the URI is bigger than the icon!) * We should try reading it from disk * We shouldn't try to guess a URI In short: if we're a don't-try URI, just use LINK_FAVICON and check the memory cache. See that bug for me.
