I can reproduce this (on OS X 10.9) using Firefox 33, but not with current Nightly; as such, it looks like it's already fixed on trunk. It would be helpful to identify exactly when it got fixed, so we can consider whether something should be uplifted to earlier releases.
I'm guessing it may have been bug 923007 that fixed this, but have not verified that.
The 'progression' pushlog for this fix is:

https://hg.mozilla.org/mozilla-central/pushloghtml?fromchange=818f353b7aa6&tochange=1735ff2bb23e

which corroborates the guess of bug 923007. That means this will be fixed in Firefox 35. Jonathan, is that change low-risk enough to request uplift to 34? :-)

IMO, this is a relatively minor cosmetic flaw, so I think I'd be happier leaving that one to ride the trains and get its full period of aurora and beta testing. I believe the patch to be OK (otherwise I wouldn't have written it!), but we're dealing here with our interaction with the dark internals of Core Text behavior, and potentially could disrupt the shaping of other Apple fonts if something unexpected happens.

Makes sense. Marking as a duplicate, then...
