Mozfest was awesome!! So magic. The website and schedule app could use a review while our memory is fresh. * meta schedule -- the general schedule should be easier to access and view in a glance, rather than embedded in the complex session schedule * facilitator contact -- facilitator names should link to a profile and means of contact, on the site or external, so the magic can continue * find by facilitator -- attendees might know the name of the person, but not their quirky session title * tags -- allow session facilitators to tag their topics * appcache -- the app locked to last years schedule for anyone who looked at it recently before the new one was posted * starred -- calling starred items "tracked sessions" in the schedule filter is confusing since we also have "session tracks" * accessibility -- given the limits on wifi and mobile access, the filtered viewing between tracks and days should be simplified Next year, feel free to loop in more people to the design and QA process.
Thanks for starting this, Matthew -- although seeing the mozfest15 tag gave me heart palpitations ;) We're doing a comms postmortem this week and can post further feedback here afterwards. Next year we hope to rebuild the site from scratch (this year Mavis was stuck using janky old WP code) so all feedback and suggestions are very welcome!
One key takeaway from the Comms debrief was the need for more (and earlier) clarity on what resources we can devote to the site and the schedule app. For 2015, this means a clear, appropriately-timed commitment with buy-in from stakeholders to rebuild the site, and a clear decision on who should undertake that work. Because of the janky WP, rebuilding the site is an all-or-nothing endeavor that will require significant resources. The schedule app was almost entirely on Fuzzy's shoulders this year. We should commit to providing him (or whoever works on the app for 2015) with more resources as well.
