I believe this issue is related to bug 1085759 that was reopened earlier today. Bad issue that completely breaks audio in the phone; affects many applications as most utilize audio in some fashion.

Issue DOES reproduce on 2.2, 2.1 and 2.0 builds from yesterday that were full flashed, both engineering and user. I am including text file with environmental variables for all these builds but in the interest of space am only including the build id, branch information and flash method for most builds. The builds have the same gonk which indicates that this is not a gonk issue but since it is only reproducible on full flash builds, QAnalysts will not be able to get a regression window or reverse regression window if requested. Environmental Variables: Device: Flame 2.2 Full Flash user build BuildID: 20141030040201 Gaia: 0dfc1996eb583c8b507a82bf6b8319624bba23ea Gecko: 80e18ff7c7b2 Gonk: 48835395daa6a49b281db62c50805bd6ca24077e Version: 36.0a1 (2.2) Firmware Version: v188 User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Mobile; rv:36.0) Gecko/36.0 Firefox/36.0 Flame 2.1 Full Flash user build BuildID: 20141030001201, Flame 2.1 Full Flash engineering build BuildID: 20141030071117, Device: Flame 2.0 Full Flash user build BuildID: 20141030000200 Issue does NOT reproduce on 2.2, 2.1 and 2.0 builds that are full flashed from today. It also does not reproduce on shallow flashed builds. Environmental Variables: Device: Flame 2.2 Full Flash user build BuildID: 20141031061804 Gaia: a07994714f0552f89801d6097982308d8b0a1ee1 Gecko: 6bd2071b373f Gonk: 48835395daa6a49b281db62c50805bd6ca24077e Version: 36.0a1 (2.2) Firmware Version: v188 User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Mobile; rv:36.0) Gecko/36.0 Firefox/36.0 Flame 2.1 Full Flash user build BuildID: 20141031001201, Flame 2.1 Full Flash engineering build BuildID: 20141031065257, Flame 2.0 Full Flash user build BuildID: 20141031000201, Flame 2.1 Shallow Flash user build BuildID: 20141030001201, Flame 2.1 Shallow Flash engineering build BuildID: 20141030071117

I cannot reproduce this on the public v188 base image (2.0.0.0-prerelease, 20141016183911 build ID) from https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/Firefox_OS/Developer_phone_guide/Flame so I suspect this is a problem with the Mozilla build system and not the 188 image itself.

Sounds related to v188 base image. marking it blocking bug 1085759 for now. we can unlink them later if its not related.

Verified WorksForMe on newly downloaded Base Image v188 from the MDN page + Full Image Flash of v2.1: https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/Firefox_OS/Developer_phone_guide/Flame#Updating_your_Flame%27s_software I don't know if this was a fix submitted to the Base Image or to the Firefox OS code, but it seems to be working correctly now. I noticed that the Base Image v188 currently hosted on MDN's page (with the bug resolved) is 5 days older than the Base Image v188 I had originally downloaded from MDN and was able to replicate the bug with.
