User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:29.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/29.0 Build ID: 20141013200257 Steps to reproduce: User story: I want to move messages to my Archive folder instead of deleting them. Actual results: I can only do this by tapping the Move icon, then scrolling down the folder list to my Archive folder. Expected results: I would like to be able to archive messages in one tap from the Inbox. A configurable Archive button would achieve this.
Thunderbird's archive implementation is documented at https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/archived-messages. Are you thinking of something like that (configurable root folder supporting configurable date buckets) or something less (just a configurable folder) or something more (per-sender buckets). Also interesting to know is what type of server you're using (ex: gmail, fastmail, some dovecot IMAP server, some cyrus IMAP server, etc.) Note that bug 951380 covers turning the trash button into an archive button for gmail, which is a somewhat separate use-case.
