Yeah, for some reason when I commented out stuff, the sync script went wild and started looking at MORE components than it should, not fewer. I've shut down the PaaS node that runs the cron job and will be filing bugs for gozer to get some help with his sync script. Many many apologies for the noise.

We were migrating our kanban board (which uses the sync script webops uses) to the paid site yesterday, and it started having issues duplicating cards (a problem which had supposedly been fixed by a lock, but apparently was not). When I noticed this, I commented out the bugzilla components in the config file so that it would stop syncing information from bugzilla, and I started cleaning up our kanban board. Unfortunately (what I think happened, but I haven't had a chance to talk with gozer and verify yet), commenting things out seemed to have the opposite of the desired effect and instead of excluding things, it became *more inclusive* and proceeded to crawl the entire property instead of just the specified components. Because that was so large, we were hit by the first bug again and it started running multiple copies of the sync script and creating duplicate cards and changing the whiteboard. When we saw this happening, I moved the cron job entirely, killed off all the running scripts, and shut down the PaaS instance all together to stop it from doing anything at all. As far as I can tell from a bugzilla search, it hijacked 185 bugs in I&O that it shouldn't have. All of the other bugs it tagged were in either Developer Services or Release Engineering. For those bugs that had no other whiteboard entries, I've gone and cleaned up with a mass bug modification. Those that have other entries are more difficult to deal with in a batch manner, so I filed a bug for the bugzilla admins (linked off the above bug) to help me out by deleting just the engops entry from the whiteboard.
