>>Project/Request Title:
Metatag image for 10th. anniversary landing page

>>Project Overview:
Hi all --

I'm writing to request a high res metatag image for the campaign landing page for 10th anniversary.

Should be a high res grab of the campaign video w/ a "play" button over it.

Thanks,
Michaela

Quick q - can you remind me what the sharing copy will be with this? Want to make sure we choose an image that matches what's being said about it.

Also, assigning to Ty. (Thanks Ty.)

Hi Michaela,

Attached is a still from the video with play button you can use.
Which landing page is this going on? Its a different size to the campaign landing page I had worked on.

Hi all --

I'm so sorry for the delay. Here is a mock up of how the metatag will look via a user social share from the website: http://screencast.com/t/HIJt5suWPk. (The graphic Ty attached would replace the image in the mock up, but the copy is final.)

I like the graphic Ty! I do wonder, however, if it feels to "dark." Recognize the video was filmed at night, but is there a less ominous graphic pull to use? Not sure, but could you look? Hoping the graphic will be empowering / motivating / uplifting if possible.

+ Ben Niolet as well, who might have use for this same graphic in email. Not sure.
An additional nitpick: we should probably omit the "watch video" text from the image, to avoid language issues. Just the play symbol should be universal enough for the image, and we have the localized text on the video page itself.

I agree that we should try to find a brighter, clearer frame grab if possible. Might it have to wait until we get the final video, or do we have enough footage already to choose from?

In a seperate bug, I have asked MT for an email graphic based on the new video.

https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1080795

Details are:

The same dimensions for the new image, please.

Thanks Ty! Reviewers, here are some thoughts to consider as you look at the options:

- this image will be used as a metatag for Facebook shares (at thumbnail size) and as the default screenshot shown on the video player when it's embedded in certain key webpages (ex. the post-tour landing page). So, it needs to be both readable at a small size, but also have cool, impactful imagery for people who see it at the larger size.

- we'd like to show images with people's faces, but there just aren't that many available. The ones in comment #8 and comment #10 are a couple of options.

- I personally like the brighter one from comment #9, as it's a cool moment from the video, but it still is pretty dark.

- key question: who has the final call on this? We should do a quick huddle with the various players to get this closed out today.

Final call can be from you, John. Will be on the website, email, Facebook. User engagement team is good w/ you making the call.

User engagement perspective: we like fire best. But the one w/ Fire looks a little ominous. Any way we can make the fire less ominous would be awesome :).

And if not, ok :).
Web prod perspective is we really need an image asap.
For the final deliverable, Facebook recommends 1200x630, or a minimum of 600x315 to get the "big image" style share box. Anything smaller will get reduced to a thumbnail. See https://developers.facebook.com/docs/sharing/best-practices#images

Also to piggyback on this bug, we'll need the same image at 780x435 WITHOUT a play button to use as a poster image for the embedded video.

We looked over the footage again and felt it was better to go with this still from the video.

Using the still of the torch being lit requires additional editing to address all the feedback, and in the end wouldnt portray the video very well.

With regards to the still size, is 600x315 sufficient, or will it need to be 1200 x 630?

Craig, Ill connect with you in a bit to discuss the video player sizing

Once the final HD version of the video comes through, ill be providing a 1200x630 version of the still for FB. Hoping to have that by tomorrow morning the latest.

With regards to the other mozilla.org pages, Im working with Craig Cook on getting the still sized accordingly for the Campaign, Privacy Tour, and Homepage take over video spots.

Hah, Lizz went on a mass bug hunt.

Anyways, I finally received the hi-res version of the video to update the video stills were using for the campaign.

Attached is the 600x315 version
