The description on the npnul32.dll file is:
"Mozilla Default Plug-in (*.*)"
it should be:
"Mozilla Default Plug-in"
since the suffixes can be read by looking at the Suffixes attribute.

I think Patrick Beard recently got ordained a super reviewer.

btw, this plugin is going away in bug 83754 but some of our embedding vendors
have choosen to stick with this C++ version.

The plug-ins triage team (av, beppe, peterl, serge and shrir) have reviewed this
issue and have made the following determination:

This will be resolved with bug 106413. In the current state, the *.* is
hardcoded in the plug-in.

Note, that the current default plug-in will not be fixed, the resolution for bug
106413 is to replace the current default plug-in and information can be altered
at that time. Consequently, we are marking this bug as won't fix in lieu of bug
106413
