1095211 - Add a bit more graphic design polish to the main navbar

I had been meaning to get around to this for awhile. I wanted to improve a few parts of the navbar. Cleaning up some containers, unifying the top bar, adding some nice graphic design polish.

I just started poking around on it now after the work week meetings, and it's looking quite groovy, so opening a bug for tracking and an eventual PR.
