1095309 - Facebook only showing a toolbar in Firefox versions 5 through 15

A recent Facebook change (last couple days) caused Firefox users on older versions of Firefox (all OSes) to have Facebook only showing a white screen and a blue logged in toolbar for logged in users.

The logged out page still works and there's no message that tells users to update so this feels like something we broke.

We should work with Facebook to get some kind of "update please" message up. (See also bug 849997)

Cheng: can you see if you can reproduce this in Firefox 3.6? I want to see if it is just 4-15 or truly anything 15 or below. Are you getting any console or JS errors?

I've tested and Firefox 3.6 on Windows is working fine on Facebook.com and I got the notification to upgrade that pointed me to https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/firefox-36-no-longer-supported. I have also doubled checked the analytics on the SUMO page where the referring domain is facebook.com and there is no change in traffic. This bug must be related to Firefox 4 through 15.

We've verified it is 5,6,8,14 on win32. Trying others now.

16 is fine, so it must be Firefox 5 through 15 on both win32 and OSX.

I verified 5,6,8,10,14,15 as broken on OSX, 16,17,18 are good.

I am not seeing any JS errors and only some declaration dropped CSS warnings in the error console.

Can't repro inside of Facebook.  Might be an edge router problem?  Someone who can repo try disabling SPDY or something?  We also recently turned of SSL 3.0 in favor of TLS, not sure if that would be an issue?

I just re-tested it in Firefox 5 and Firefox 15 and it is working fine now.

This appears to have fixed itself! No idea what was happening on Facebook's side. Maybe a cache issue.
