I've been running into the same -- seems to be related to drive letters (in my case it end in e: where the OP issue ends in c:) being at the end of paths listed (and being cut off at the colon).

Would there be an easy way to find out when this was introduced?

FTR: the relevant part of configure is:

> # Extract the first word of "$ac_prog", so it can be a program name with args.

Apparently "ac_word" is filled with a path+driveletter?
It then fails on:

>     if test -f $ac_dir/$ac_word; then

I revisited this and as far as I can tell the problem is that mozmake.exe is used as a full path+drive letter. (possibly others as well)

So it will check for "mozmake" by checking for "x:/mozillabuild-path/mozmake.exe" and passing that to a path search "/msyspath/dir/x:/mozillabuild-path/mozmake.exe" - hitting the ":" there, and expecting a binary operator.

Solution would be to strip the path from the executable to check for (making it just "mozmake.exe"). Unfortunately I know very little about autotools or this particular part of the build system.
