STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Start Firefox 33 with a fresh profile 2. open Preferences -> Privacy and set: Tracking: Tell sites I do not want to be tracked History: Use custom settings for history + uncheck all the checkboxes 3. restart 4. open a new tab (Tiles are displayed) 5. open Preferences -> Privacy and click "Show Cookies" ACTUAL RESULTS Cookies! WTF?! See attached screenshot.
I think we should prioritize this.
Flags: firefox-backlog+
Agreed - I cannot reproduce here and this conflicts with documentation.
I see these exact same cookies BUT they seem to come from the welcome page. They're there before I even opened about:newtab once. Your STR is missing the step that clears those cookies after setting the prefs. No matter how often I restart and open a new tab, I don't see any new cookies. We should resolve this as INVALID.

Even without turning on DNT, if I remove all cookies and open new tab pages, I don't see any cookies getting added. If I remove all cookies on a new profile and reload the first run page: https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/33.1/firstrun/ I see the mozilla.org and optimizely cookies being set. Clearing cookies again and opening new tabs don't create cookies for me even without changing DNT settings.
Oh, yeah. Thanks for double-checking that. I guess we don't want cookies in general created by Tiles no matter what the user's preference.
