User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Ubuntu; Linux x86_64; rv:35.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/35.0
Build ID: 20141110194511

Steps to reproduce:

Firefox for dev (v35) in Ubuntu 14.10 64bit
The icon in /usr/share/applications is firefox.desktop, and in this file :

[Desktop Entry]
Version=1.0
Name=Firefox Developer Edition Web Browser
Icon=firefox

When design icon theme for it, it conflict with firefox, could it be change to "Icon=firefox-dev" or somethiing else can solve this conflict?
Keywords: icon
Component: Untriaged → Theme
the icon theme refer to system gtk icon theme
Summary: Firefox for dev (v35) icon name conflict → [Linux]Firefox for dev (v35) icon name conflict
The desktop file in /usr/share/applications/firefox.desktop is provided by the Ubuntu Firefox package. If they ever package Firefox Developer Edition separately, they will presumably use a special desktop file that points to the right icon.

In the meantime, if you want to add your own desktop file for Developer Edition, you can start from this one that I'm using locally. Be sure to edit the paths that start with /home/past/FirefoxDeveloperEdition to match the location in your filesystem where Developer Edition is installed. The move it to ~/.local/share/applications/ and launch the app from unity.
Severity: normal → S3
