User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; rv:33.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/33.0 Build ID: 20141106120505 Steps to reproduce: open Firfox click "new tab" click Wikipedia from one of the boxes Actual results: 50% of all attempts to visit Wikipedia from the New Tab page results in Firefox completely freezing; forcing me to force close Firefox Expected results: Wikipedia.org website should load and display without Firefox freezing up
Severity: normal → blocker
Do you have crash IDs from about:crashes, or browser profile information on cleopatra indicating what's hanging? Does it happen in a clean profile? (I can't reproduce, I'm afraid.)

(In reply to moltres.facesits.justin.coolidge from comment #2) > it does it on three computers. two of which has two user accounts (mine and > my sister's) and it does it on both user accounts' Firefox on the computers > with two user accounts Right. I don't doubt that the problem is very real for you, but we need more details in order to investigate why it is happening to you (and not to everyone). Please try to answer the following questions: - when Firefox crashes due to this problem, do you get Firefox's crash report dialogs? If so, please submit some of these reports and provide the links that then show up for these crashes in about:support. - can you go to about:support on at least 2 of the affected machines, click the "copy raw data" button, and then go here: https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/attachment.cgi?bugid=1098078&action=enter , click "paste text as attachment", and paste the output there, and submit the attachment to this bug? - can you try to use safe mode (help > restart with add-ons disabled) and let us know if that helps

I cannot seem to find a "copy raw data" on Firefox. and no crash report, the little circle on the tab appears frozen, and so is the entire Firefox. the only way to force close it is hammer the "x" close button when windows says "Firefox is not responding" for a couple of seconds then everything closes including the dialog. one of the affected machines has no add-ons except WOT (Web of trust) which the head of the household requires

(In reply to moltres.facesits.justin.coolidge from comment #4) > I cannot seem to find a "copy raw data" on Firefox. If you open Help > troubleshooting information, you get a page that looks like: http://imgur.com/1mQHaoW You want the top-left button. > and no crash report, the > little circle on the tab appears frozen, and so is the entire Firefox. the > only way to force close it is hammer the "x" close button when windows says > "Firefox is not responding" for a couple of seconds then everything closes > including the dialog. OK. :-( > one of the affected machines has no add-ons except WOT > (Web of trust) which the head of the household requires Right. Can you still try the "restart with add-ons disabled" option just to see if it makes a difference? It does a little more than the name suggests, and also disables some other things that can cause issues (like graphics hardware acceleration). Finally... did this always happen? Or was Firefox 32 alright? In other words, do you know when this broke?

If you can still reproduce in a current version started in safe mode, please add more information per comment 5. For now => incomplete
