This is the meta bug to track the work to support the explicit action of 'sending' and 'receiving' tabs to/from other Firefox instances attached to the user's Firefox Account.

What of the wiki is already done? and what new work needs to be done?

Not done:

* Push/real-time delivery.
* Implied: credentials/cookies/etc.

Also:

* Add to reading list from desktop, reading list service, etc. I don't think that's in scope for this bug.


There is no immediate work scheduled that I know of to address this.

Looking at the epic bug (Bug 1098303), it looks like this is really about building a replacement for Sync's send tab command. In that case, we should be able to reuse the bones of the UI, and perhaps the notification for receiving (not much work), but we'd need to handle a migration from the old mechanism to the new, messaging, etc.
