Can this still be looked at, please? Is it ok to use the Crash ID's which I had supplied?
(In reply to Jobby from comment #2) > We have seen this problem, too, on about 15+ Thunderbird installations. > Here's a few Crash IDs: > > bp-23e6779d-20f5-4cfe-9b1b-2e28d2141126 Most of these (but not all) are nsObserverService::RemoveObserver(nsIObserver*, char const*), which often correlate to calendar. It is unclear until we hear from Mike whether these are the same issue. But for now, are you able to reproduce this crash when using a current beta version of Thunderbird from https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/thunderbird/all-beta.html and the corresponding beta for calendar from https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Mozilla/Calendar/Calendar_Versions ? And if you still crash with the beta, please post these crash IDs as well

Hi Wayne Installed the Beta versions, as you suggested. Still crashes. Here's some Crash IDs: bp-228ab01a-a7e2-40a9-8a8d-1083d2141205 bp-00d62b28-b91b-4b26-aed7-d8fac2141205 bp-2aa1eeed-4422-427c-8cde-e16252141205 bp-191d25ef-28ea-47ef-9108-c969e2141205 (Just as an aside, this may have been on a different computer that the original Crash IDs came from. Does that matter?)

Hi all Fighting several problems in TB 31.0.3 with Lightning 3.3.2 and Provider for Google Calendar (PGC) version 1.03, on Win8.1Pro... I guess the usage of the latest bugfix from Philipp does not warrant the opening of a new bug report. 1. many (more than a dozen) master password dialog boxes (been a plague for a while) 2. those have now become empty, i.e. a small blank window with only the 'x' button to close it 3. ... and followed by an immediate crash of TB altogether Only way to recover is to start TB in safe mode and disable PGC. Some crash IDs: bp-679fc72a-038c-4aab-b9ce-b54c32141228 --> could be related to bug 948015NEW --- crash in sandbox_finalize after FinalizeArenas? bp-a5007c2f-fbef-4666-982b-9f0052141228 bp-8edaf176-bd9b-422a-9739-366a22141228 This also means no access anymore to my Gcalendars... Best wishes for an excellent year 2015, with some hope to hear of a solution from you soon. Cheers

Does that matter?) These crashes are nsObserverService::RemoveObserver(nsIObserver*, char const*) which mostly should be gone as of Thunderbird 31.3.0 (In reply to kossem from comment #7) > Hi all > > Fighting several problems in TB 31.0.3 with Lightning 3.3.2 and Provider for > Google Calendar (PGC) version 1.03, on Win8.1Pro... > I guess the usage of the latest bugfix from Philipp does not warrant the > opening of a new bug report. > > 1. many (more than a dozen) master password dialog boxes (been a plague for > a while) > 2. those have now become empty, i.e. a small blank window with only the 'x' > button to close it > 3. ... and followed by an immediate crash of TB altogether > > Only way to recover is to start TB in safe mode and disable PGC. > > Some crash IDs: > bp-679fc72a-038c-4aab-b9ce-b54c32141228 --> could be related to bug > 948015NEW --- crash in sandbox_finalize after FinalizeArenas? > > bp-a5007c2f-fbef-4666-982b-9f0052141228 > bp-8edaf176-bd9b-422a-9739-366a22141228 @ sandbox_finalize ... doesn't offer much. What happens if you disable HWA? Go to Tools -> Options -> Advanced menu, click "Config Editor" button skip the "be careful" prompt. Use filter to get the following 2 preferences: gfx.direct2d.disabled layers.acceleration.disabled Both preferences would be set to false. Double-click on both of them and it'll change their values to true. Restart Thunderbird
The two preferences have been changed to 'true', as suggested by Wayne. Unfortunately, no change to the above mentioned ill behavior: immediate crash upon TB startup, even before the encoding of any of the very multiple master password dialog boxes. Only solution to get back to TB is safe mode restart, disable the add on Provider for Google Calendar (PGC) version 1.03, and restart in normal mode. Note: there are then still two master password dialog boxes (maybe one for the emails and one for the calendar -- the only one remaining, local?).
Does this still reproduce for you?

Sorry, we have moved onto the more recent versions of Thunderbird (45.6.0)+Lightning (4.7.6)+Provider for Google Calendar (3.1) and everything is running smoothly now.
Jobby, thanks for the update. > Note: there are then still two master password dialog boxes (maybe one for the emails and one for the calendar -- the only one remaining, local?). there are bug reports for these
