Steps to reproduce:

Thunderbird checks for new email upon start-up.  I have a lot of pop3 accounts which it polls for new email.  I have a huge number of filters.  My platform is Ubuntu 14.04 LTS with the latest version of Thunderbird for that the 14.04LTS distribution (automatically updates/upgrades).  This has always been an issue since I started using Thunderbird 2 years ago.


Actual results:

Often alert pop-up messages come up indicating that processing of a message could not be performed (e.g., another operation is busy, etc.).  This is very very inefficient and disruptive.  I even created a script that cron runs looking for these alert boxes and automatically closing them.  But it does not always work and this is very disruptive.  Even when I am working in another application, when these alert boxes pop up, the focus is suddenly moved back to Thunderbird.  The app itself is great; but this issue is really awful.


Expected results:

Provide a preference option for users to have these types of alert messages written to an error log instead of popping up the alert boxes.  If you want to still indicate that something happened, then just display an icon somewhere in the interface that indicates that the error/warning log has been written to and you could even have that file open if the user double clicks on it  -- or not. The icon and clicking is not as important as just having the preference to turn off the alert boxes.  The ability to stop those alert boxes is the purpose of this request.

If Mozilla is uninterested or unwilling to make this change or if it will take time before it is implemented, then please at least indicate with as much detail as you can, where in the code that these alert boxes can be shut off.
