User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64; rv:32.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/32.0 Build ID: 20140923175406 Steps to reproduce: Using QuickFilter <Ctrl+Shift+K> to search for text in message body, returns no results if searched string is preceded by "=". Steps to reproduce: 1. Install latest stable Thunderbird version which currently is 31.2.0. 2. Import the attached eml file or create a new message with body text "Field=ABCDEF" (without quotes) and send the message. 3. Select Quick filter (Ctrl+Shift+K) of the Sent folder (or the folder where you imported eml file). Make sure that Body option is on at "Filter message by" options (in my case all options are on: Sender, Recipients, Subject, Body). 4. Filter by the word "ABCDEF" (without quotes), no results appear. But when you search for "=ABCDEF" (without quotes) the message appears. If you can't open the attached eml file, here is an example message with headers that reproduces the problem: ------------------- From - Mon Jun 02 14:51:25 2014 Return-Path: <xxx@xxx.xxx> Delivered-To: xxx@xxx.xxx Message-ID: <538C651E.5060108@xxx.xxx> Date: Mon, 02 Jun 2014 14:50:54 +0300 From: <xxx@xxx.xxx> User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64; rv:24.0) Gecko/20100101 Thunderbird/24.5.0 MIME-Version: 1.0 To: xxx@xxx.xxx Subject: Probe Content-Type: text/plain; charset=ISO-8859-1; format=flowed Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit Field=ABCDEF Actual results: Quick filter shows no results when you search for the word "ABCDEF" (without quotes). Expected results: Quick filter should show 1 message which contains the text "ABCDEF" (without quotes) in its message body. It works only when you search for "=ABCDEF" (without quotes).

presenta, thanks for that perfect bug report. TB never ceases to amaze with bugs. Confirming exactly as described, for TB31.3.0 / WinXP. Unlikely to be fixed soon, too deep... but would be worth exploring because it almost looks like a false negative which was deliberately created as a workaround for some other problem. Ideas anyone?
