BuildID: 0.9.5
On a Sun keyboard there's a key called Compose, situated right of the spacebar
(between the Meta key and AltGr).
I use this key to generate (among others) Swedish characters like å, ä, ö, é
etc. on a US keyboard (Compose " a for ä etc.)
In Mozilla I just get *a, "a, "o, 'e etc.
This URL point into docs.sun.com and shows how the key's supposed to work:

If it's interesting, Netscape 6 behaves exactly the same.
I don't have a Sun keyboard with a linux system.
Katakai-san, do you see this on Solaris?
Jonas, do you have this problem on HTML Composer Or editing area on Navigator
window, like URL bar and search field on http://home.netscape.com?

Thank you for filing bug report.
I understand this is a bug of Solaris xlib not Mozilla bug.
It's dup of bug 81749. Please wait Solaris patch.
Hotta-san, can you close as dup?

Hi. I run Solaris 8 on an Ultra10 (sun4u), with all the recommended patches
(as of last week). I'm running Mozilla 0.9.9 (2002031103). I also have this
problem (regarding the compose key.) It does not manifest itself in any other
application, and I do not believe it is the same bug as 81749 -- I can copy and
paste accented characters into Mozilla (and they display correctly). I simply
cannot use the compose key correctly.
I do not believe this is a bug in Solaris XLib: my compose key works correctly
in other (XLib) applications. I make heavy use of it.
Also, the compose key does not work anywhere in Mozilla, including the URI
box, not just in forms. I haven't checked Mail & such. I don't use those.

Well, even though you don't think that's the problem, check out Solaris 8 patch
108773 anyway, because it solved the problem for me. At least revision -13 is
needed (current revision is -14).

Thanks for posting the patch. After applying it patch 108773-14 [1] (as
suggested) the problem was fixed.
