User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10.10; rv:33.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/33.0 Build ID: 20141113143407 Steps to reproduce: Open the "Library" window, Add-ons Manager, tiles start page, or side panel (default arrangement). Actual results: The gear icons (as of Firefox 33.1.1) are mechanically poor or impossible. Expected results: If the point is to illustrate how things work together, we should use gears that could actually work together.

Pretty much any of those 'gear' icons would work fine, mechanically speaking, if you think of them as a sectional view of a splined shaft. Splines come in all sorts of shapes and sizes, and of course don't have the intermeshing requirements that gears do.
