User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/39.0.2171.65 Safari/537.36 Steps to reproduce: Activated the mobile Nvidia GPU for Thunderbird(TB) via Nvidia System Panel (Nvidia Optimus lets you choose between dedicated GPU und shared Memory GPU (Intel HD Graphics 4600)) Opened TB, tried to right click my mailaccount, or left-click any other Menu. Actual results: A opague menu opened without menu entries. This did not always happen, but most of the times I tried. Expected results: A normal UI menu appears.
Summary: Thunderbird UI Menus disappear when dedicated GPU (NVIDIA GTX 860 M Driver 344.11) enabled → Thunderbird UI Menues disappear when dedicated GPU (NVIDIA GTX 860 M Driver 344.11) is enabled
Does it happen if you start thunderbird in safe mode? see https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/safe-mode

No, starting Thunderbird in safe mode leads to correct displaying of the UI.

Daniel, Does Disabling HWA in Tools | Options | Advanced helps help you? Are you sure you have the most current driver? I may file a new bug, because I am seeing horrible paint delays with typing and displays in my 38.0b1 candidate build on thinkpad with NVIDIA Quadro 1000M, non-aero theme, starting with . According to Device Manager and windows update my drivers are current. I have not seen this when using Thunderbird trunk, so somewhere in gecko 39 I get fixed.

an example of what I am seeing
Daniel seems to be gone. Let's close this after a couple months (In reply to Wayne Mery (:wsmwk, NI for questions) from comment #3) > ... > I may file a new bug, because I am seeing horrible paint delays with typing > and displays in my 38.0b1 candidate build on thinkpad with NVIDIA Quadro > 1000M, non-aero theme, starting with . I recently retested with HWA enabled. I did not see delays. But there are some trivial paint issues.

Safe mode resolved Daniel's problem. So it is fair to assume this was HWA related
