Steps to reproduce:

OK after more than 10 year using outlook and migrarting *.pst-files I never lost a single mail. While using tb during the last 3 year I lost more data than I could keep. And finally I am in big troubles now because I need them. 


Actual results:

So what happened again and again, even with earlier versions, is that the local databse went corrupt while copying mails from my mail account IMAP to the local folder. There are several tools, no matter which one, the y cause all the same problem again and again. 


Expected results:

Accessible and healthy data in the local folder. Is there a tool to really effectively backup mails? And is there a usuable tool to repair the damaged local database containing all my mails to have them again?

This doesn't address your problem, but to start, if you really mean copy and not move, why are you making an additional copy of your messages in local folders that are in imap?

Why not? As a backup in case the server vanishes or the data is corrupted as reported. I would also make copies if I had IMAP.

It is hard to say, before we know what kind of corruption you see. If just TB's index (the .msf file for the folder) is broken an TB displays garbage, that file can be removed and TB reparses the real data file for the folder (mbox format). You could check if the data in that file is intact (using a text viewer program) - it should be just a long list of messages concatenated one after another.

Is it only your local folders that are impacted?

There where only the local files impacted but in a NAS

For security reasons I always copy and delete after sucesful copy. Many times data went lost wyle moving them to the local folders. There where only empty files created and on imap they where erased.
