Steps to reproduce: 1. open amazon.com in tab 1 2. open amazon.com in tab 2 3. switch from tab 2 to tab 1 Expected result: the tab switches, and since the pages in both tabs were already loaded I should not see firefox reload the tab. Actual results: I see a loading gif and the tab takes 1-5 secs to load/display/ This is very frustrating, and I think it must be critical.

When you say the tab loads exactly what are you seeing?

Attaching a screen shot of the "loading gif" that I described. Any idea why I'm seeing this Dave?

Ok the tab isn't loading we're just waiting for the child process to respond and tell us what to paint so we show a throbber in the meantime. That it can take so long (particularly on OSX) is roughly being looked at in bug 1066531.
