The current snippet looks like this:
https://snippets.allizom.org/show/65/

We have another variation that looks like this that we have not tested:
https://snippets.allizom.org/show/67/

This bug is to design a new variation to test that includes an animated icon, a PayPal button, and a credit card button or link:
http://note.io/1q0mBN2

We have 2 goals with this snippet:
1. to pull more of the donation form onto the snippet itself, which will likely improve conversion;
2. Add an animated element we can switch out to keep the snippet "fresh" and fight click through fatigue.

User paths:
1. select amount+credit card immediately drops you at this stage in the sequence: http://note.io/1FSsbmA

2. select amount + PayPal immediately drops you at PayPal login / onto PayPal page on click

Gavin has to implement the design using code that is snippet-compliant; he's given a thumbs up on this approach, but we should check in with him along the way.

Andrea, can you confirm that the user has to click both [amount] and [payment type] in order to proceed? If so, I'm concerned that the Paypal logo and credit card link don't feel like they are a required step which can get confusing. They seem more informational... "we accept Paypal and credit card".

I like the idea of showing the logos directly on the snippet to tell users they have options, my guess is that in itself would improve both conversion and CTR.

redpen: https://redpen.io/fma2720495846181e2

I included 3 iterations of the snippet amount design with paypal/credit card options.

Is there any limitations with vertical space on the snippet page?

Fabio has a good point, i added some feedback on the redpen including a Q for Adam.

Commented on redpen: I think the "Other" amount will work well and is definitely something we should test.

Sorry to jump in late after we talked this through on yesterdays call, but I've dug into some more data.

I've been checking how many of the people who are responding to the current snippet with pre-selected price prompts then change their donation to another amount, and it's about 10%, but accounts for 30% of total revenue.

https://mofo.hackpad.com/EOY-DDDD-1Mau7QzX7zu#:h=Distribution-of-donation-amoun

This hasn't been a problem on the existing select amount snippet because the donor gets a chance to edit their selection, but if we send people direct to PayPal the can't edit the amount so we could be losing revenue.

Right now, I think we could try adding a small text link near the main 'donate now' button that says 'Donate another amount'. This would link to the current Seq form homepage.

Alternatively, we have design concepts with an 'other' amount box, but I think this was problematic to build. So I'm happy to fall back on a simple text link solution.

@Andrea - do you agree / want to make a call on this?

I'm moving the comment about 'other amount' to a new bug so as not to block progress on this.
