1107909 - Browser crashes when closing the browser or one tab and the PortSIP Add-On is initialized on one of the tabs

User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.3; WOW64) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/39.0.2171.71 Safari/537.36

Steps to reproduce:

After our customers updated to 34 they experience crash report pop-ups everytime  after closing a tab or the window with a tab that has loaded an Add-On (PortSIP).


Actual results:

All tabs in the Firefox windows close because the Add-On seems to crash the whole browser.


Expected results:

The tab should close and unload the add-on gracefully without crashing the whole browser.

>800 people use our SaaS solution and while 34 is rolled out we're getting more and more reports. This happens 100% of the time with people that upgraded to version 34 (or 34.0.5). We're now looking into reverting and locking Firefox version (33), something we are appalled by! Please assist.

Do you have crash report IDs? (open about:crashes on an affected machine, copy the hash IDs of the crashes)

What exact add-on is this?

If the add-on does something that makes Firefox crash, Firefox can't really fix that without knowing what it is that's crashing (we can rearchitecture a lot of things to make it harder for an add-on to do that, and we're doing some of that work, but it won't match your deadlines, I imagine - and it's questionable what effect that'll have on the add-on you're using, as it might just break altogether).

Jorge, have you heard anything about this?

Hello Gijs,

It's a plugin called PortSIP, used for SIP integration.

It works perfectly except when a tab where the PortSIP plugin is instantiated. Then it will crash and close all other tabs too (which is the biggest problem).

This should be fixed in the next 35 beta builds, as per bug 1107963. Can you try a build from http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/firefox/tinderbox-builds/mozilla-beta-win32/1419298708/ and let us know if that works?

FF 35 seems to not have the crash anymore! I hope v35 rolls out soon.
