After updating to Firefox 34, I have not been able to select a different resolution for videos on YouTube.
No extensions have been turned on.

Looks like you're getting HTML5 video on Firefox because we support H264 on OS X as of 34, whereas safari gets flash, and youtube doesn't make the larger resolutions available to us when using the html5 player.
You can easily check if you're getting the html5 player by right clicking the video, and seeing if the context menu says "About Adobe Flash" or whatever, or "About the HTML5 player".
Note that at least for me, even HTML5 videos on youtube do support different resolutions, e.g. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UI3q1MMzyMY has 360p and 720p. I don't know how youtube decides what is available on html5 video and what isn't, but it's not something Firefox has any control over, so I'm closing this. Please reopen if you think Firefox (without further cooperation from youtube/google) can do better here. Thanks!
