When trying to select text on a Google-Groups-page, the div(?) containing the text is focused. If the selected text is not in the currently "active" posting (blue highlight on the left side), the highlight-change will wipe out the selection and the focus, see bug 1015098.
Screenshot 1 is showing the focus-ring and selection before the mousebutton is released and the highlight-switch wipes out the selection and focus. Screenshot 2 is showing the focus and selection when marking text in an already highlighted posting.

User Agent Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; Win64; x64; rv:46.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/46.0 Build ID 20160204004009 Tested on Windows 7 x64 with the Aurora 46.0a2 build. I can reproduce the problem.
