Hi Sue, could you help to attach the new recorded video and your test images?
This problem should be resolved from bug 1068986

Hi David, could you help with this, thanks.
It seems v2.1 still has this issue.

Hi Mike,
I have uploaded the video and pictures. Picture of any portrait mode can reproduce this issue. You also can take some pictures by camera.

I don't think this is a gaia issue. More likely to be a gfx issue involving tiling or something. Perhaps we can work around it in gaia, but I wouldn't know how to do that without advice from gfx.

Bug 1068986 fixed a different (and worse) issue. In that bug we were seeing the image decode from top to bottom. In this case we see the image fill in from left to right or vice versa. At first I thought that the images were using EXIF orientation and were being rotated. That would have explained the side to side issue. But both have default orientation so that does not explain it.

Notice in the video that this happens on just about every transition, but that in some cases (garbage collection, perhaps) it is much worse and more noticeable than others. It would be interesting to know if this bug occurs on high-memory devices.

It might also be interesting to know if turning off the tiling checkbox in the developer menu affects this.

Milan: can someone on your team comment on this bug?

Also, we need to know if this bug reproduces on 2.2

This bug can not be reproduced on Flame 2.2, see attachment:video_v2.2.MP4

This may be a culling problem then. This would of regressed in bug 1085223 and may get fixed by bug 1113435.
This is not fixed by bug 1113435.
Flags: needinfo?(bgirard)
This will likely be fixed by bug 1137203. Since we're going to uplift those patches anyway we might as well wait and retest this on a 2.1 build once it's uplifted. Leaving open for now but marking this as a dependency
Depends on: 1137203
No longer depends on: 1112332
I think everything that was going to be uplifted has been uplifted now, please retest on the next 2.1 nightly to see if this is still happening.

Issue still reproduces on Flame 2.1

Sliding left or right in portrait landscape mode when viewing images in gallery causes black area to initially appear over part of image as picture is loading.

The build tested in comment 20 doesn't have the patches that were uplifted today. Sorry if I was unclear - it needs to be tested on the *next* nightly (i.e. 2015-03-06 build).
Adding qawanted to check again tomorrow.

Issue does not occur on latest Flame 2.1 nightly

Swiping back and forth between photos in gallery (including photos from attachment 8543870 [details] and attachment 8543871 [details]) does not produces black areas on transition or loading of next photo.
