This is happening because we're falling back to OmxPlugin on this device due to bug 1104876. 35 doesn't have that fix. We have bug 1097116 filed to turn on the new backend on PowerVR devices such as this one.
Can confirm this is fixed, on my personal phone: Alcatel One Touch Alpha 6032(Android 4.2.2). However same crash occurs if I try to play the mp3 file on this page: http://people.mozilla.org/~atrain/mobile/tests/media.html . Gonna file a new bug for that.
