User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64; rv:34.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/34.0 Build ID: 20141126041045 Steps to reproduce: Open firefox as normal, use or let idle for 1-3 hours as normal, nothing specific beyond that Actual results: All sounds on the PC become muted without mute being applied in the sound mixer on windows, including sound coming from Firefox and/or any add-ons or plugins that Firefox may use(flash, etc). All volume sliders are at max before, during, and after the issue. This includes SYSTEM sounds originating from outside Firefox, inclusive of windows notifications. Closing Firefox immediately resolves this issue, as soon as the process disappears from the list in task manager all sound capability is restored including that of Firefox and its add-ons/plugins once Firefox is restarted. Please note that all volume sliders are at max, and speakers are turned on, plugged in, and working properly before/during/after the issue appears and/or is resolved. Also note that at no time before/during/after are any of the audio channels on windows displayed as muted, the audio card always appears in device manager and does not have a notification flag. Every time the issue appears within 1-3 hours of use. Every time the issue disappears immediately after the Firefox process is closed regardless of the method of program run termination. Expected results: Firefox's running state should not affect the performance or ability of the system, or Firefox itself, to produce sound. All system audio, inclusive of audio originating from Firefox. In summary, regardless if Firefox is running or not, and how long it runs, should not cause system audio to cease functioning at all.
There is something wrong with your machine, probably. I have never met this issue. Did you try to kill the process about flash and plugin-container.exe instead of firefox.exe itself?
yes i have, its also not necessary to kill the process, simply exiting firefox resolves the issue as soon as the process is no longer showing in task manager. Only happens with firefox so i doubt its a hardware issue...
