Currently the Image Editor from the Gallery app loads a very small resolution preview of the image to be edited. This is mostly okay for some simple operations (like the color filters or auto-fix), but it can quickly become inadequate for things like careful cropping or previewing the effect of contrast/other adjustments on images with high ISO noise. I propose that just like the Gallery, the Image Editor be able to load the higher quality preview of the image on demand, perhaps with a single tap on the image. With the higher quality image, the Image Editor would display the quality of the photo adjustments more accurately, which would allow the user to see the effect of the adjustments better without having to save the image and check in the Gallery to be certain.
