111298 - [RFE] Shift + Forward should "Forward As"

It would be convenient if Shift+Forward on a message activated the alternate
prefs setting for "Forward".  That is, if preferences are set to forward inline,
Shift+Forward would forward the message as an attachment; if prefs are to
forward as an attachment, Shift+Forward would forward inline.

4.x used to have a drop down on the button.  I'd probably prefer that as a first
step though this suggestion is valid. Reassigning to ssu.

I would like to suggest making this an option on the right-click menu of the
message, but that's just my UI suggestion.

Either way, having "Forward As" (Attachment, Inline, Quoted, New) would be a
major usability improvement.

What about using shift+forward to forward as non-default text format? if you do
shift+write, shift+reply, shift+reply all, and your default is plain text, it
opens the message in html (and vice versa). Shouldn't shift+forward behave the
same way?

maybe "forward as" could be a different combo, like ctrl+forward or something.

I agree, this would be the better use of Shift.  I've recently figured out that 
if you have the Composition preference for default Forward mode set to 
Attachment, the behavior described above is exactly what happens; but if you 
default to Forward Inline, Shift+Forward behaves the same as an unmodified 
Forward.

In order to get "Forward As" functionality on that toolbutton, it would make 
much more sense to have a dropdown arrow on the button (like Get New has) -- 
which (I think) is bug 17796.
