AFAIK, nothing in the land of Gecko or B2G depends on SVN whatsoever. A quick perusal of svn.mozilla.org appears to confirm that notion. Also, the version we include is vastly out of date and unlikely to be updated. Rather than force everybody who downloads MozillaBuild to pay the price of including it, I think it makes more sense to let those who need it install SVN on their own.
I agree. I'd rather point people at TortoiseSVN.
In general, I think that the slimming down of MozillaBuild is a great idea. However, I'd rather not have svn removed from MozillaBuild because it is needed for upstreaming patches for some projects, like Breakpad. I just used it for this purpose today.
The question is whether including it to support a very small minority of people who use it is worth making everybody who downloads MozillaBuild pay that price. Given that the intent for MozillaBuild is primarily support building Firefox, I fail to see how SVN makes the cut.
I think that's reasonable, if and only if we don't require/expect contributors to Firefox to upstream changes to upstream SVN repositories.
That sounds reasonable to me :)
