Crash Data

User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Ubuntu; Linux x86_64; rv:34.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/34.0
Build ID: 20141127111021

Steps to reproduce:

Every time I open firefox it crashes, then it starts again and works fine.

What I did:
- it was a fresh install after reinstalling system (Ubuntu 14.04)
- because of crashes I reinstalled firefox with cleaning all the configuration files, profile files, cache, all the local files connected to flash etc. literally every local file connected in any way to firefox
- the bug appears with and without extensions enabled
- it happends after fresh install of firefox, when all the local files were cleared up (like described above)
- every crash report says the same that it is a problem with libgstflump3dec.so, so, I installed: libgstreamer0.10-dev, libgstreamer-plugins-base0.10-dev, ubuntu-restricted-extras and gstreamer0.10-ffmpeg from ppa:mc3man/trusty-media (the last one as described in here: http://www.webupd8.org/2014/03/get-firefox-and-phonon-gstreamer-to.html), but none of this helped.

Crash Report ID's:

Actual results:

Firefox crashes after start.
Severity: normal → critical
Crash Signature: [@ @0x0 | libgstflump3dec.so@0x10298 ]
Keywords: crash
Summary: Firefox crashes every time after start on Ubuntu → Firefox crashes in libgstflump3dec.so every time after start on Ubuntu
The thing that seems to help is setting: media.gstreamer.enabled to "flase".
Component: Untriaged → Video/Audio
Product: Firefox → Core
Have you tried using an official copy of Firefox from Mozilla, rather than the one from Ubuntu, and does that help?
Flags: needinfo?(es_uomikim)
I used only the Ubuntu version. Now, after turning media.gstreamer.enabled to "flase", it works fine.

I've been living with this bug for a few months, Firefox crashes everytime I start Firefox.
I've submitted hundreds of crash reports...
What could I do to help with this ?
Edwin, do you know what kind of info would be useful here and/or what's causing this?

Listing some of the crash report IDs to ensure it's the same issue as the reporter is seeing would be helpful. Besides that, can you use apt/synaptic/aptitude/... to list which gstreamer packages you have installed, and include that list here?

Sure.

Here are some of them :

I've just been looking at my old crash reports, and I found out that the first of the these crashes occured mid June with the release of Firefox 30.
Hum.. from Firefox 30's release note (https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/30.0/releasenotes/)

Support for GStreamer 1.0 (see 806917 for build configuration)
Sorting this out soon. Had a patch waiting for review for... a while... now in bug 981869 to blacklist flump3dec; will rebase and land some time in the next week or so.
