From Bugzilla Helper: User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:0.9.6) Gecko/20011120 BuildID: 2001112012 The browser crashes when trying to load/run the "login" applet from the site. The crash isn't caught by talkback, so I can't supply a talkback ID, and Mozilla failed to run reliably when I tried running under gdb to at least get a stack trace. Obviously, I can't provide details from the java console, because the browser crashes before I can see if anything is displayed. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Go to http://uat9.accucard.com 2. Username is "mozilla", password is "lizard" 3. Click on "Login" Actual Results: The popup box containing the applet appears, and then the broswer crashes completely. Expected Results: A java applet should have loaded in the popup box, that prompts the user to supply a login and password. I have used the LD_ASSUME_KERNEL=2.2.5 trick to get java to work in the first place. Other applets work fine, even the other applet on the same site (click "apply now" from the main page to see it in action). I saw the same behaviour with Mozilla-0.9.5. However, the applet loads fine from Netscape 6.2 on the same box. I'm using an unmodified 2.4.7-10 kernel, and glibc-2.2.4-13 as shipped with Red Hat 7.2
wfm using build 2001112203 on Win2k with Flash 5.0r47 and JRE 1.3.1. This is another Flash/Linux-only/Java bug... might be a dupe. Reporter, do you have a Talkback ID for this crash ?
WFM: Windows 98, Mozilla 2001112104. Java JRE 1.3.1_01. Reporter, what version of Java plugin do you have?
Sigh. If you want users to submit bug reports, then you could at least read them. I'd already mentioned in the initial report that I didn't have a talkback ID. Yes, it's a talkback build, but no, talkback didn't catch the crash. Andrew: I'm using JRE-1.3.0_01 (from the Netscape 6 jre.xpi)
Sorry about that, I read this bug report and I was glad to see you tested LD_ASSUME_KERNEL=2.2.5 trick but updated another bug report during the time and... wrote about the Talkback ID. Nice testcase btw. Can you test latest nightly build and report if problem still occurs ? Build available here: http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla/nightly/latest/mozilla-i686-pc-linux-gnu-sea.tar.gz I'll try to test bug on my Linux box tonight as I only have Win2k here.
Yep, same behaviour with latest nightly (build 2001112308). Note that I get the following on stdout: # # An unexpected exception has been detected in native code outside the VM.# Program counter=0x404d2ed4 # # Problematic Thread: prio=1 tid=0x849f8d0 nid=0x12d7 runnable # and this on stderr: Warning: Cannot convert string "MetaCtrl<Key>Insert" to type VirtualBinding INTERNAL ERROR on Browser End: Pipe closed during read? State may be corrupt System error?:: Success Perhaps more importantly, it seems to work if the java console is open at the time the applet starts loading, which makes it look suspiciously like a dup of 85010...
I do not crash with build 2001112308 on Linux (RH 6.2, glibc 2.1.3) with Flash 5.0r47 and JRE 1.3.1. The login applet loads properly. Reporter, can you upgrade to JRE 1.3.1 ? There're several bug fixed, and this particular testcase might be one of them. http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.3/jre/download-linux.html
Works for me with both jre1.3.1 and jre1.4.0beta3 and recent trunk build on Redhat 6.2 and 7.1.
Tet: did you try jdk1.3.1?
