Details

Ignoring the protocol for the cases of http and https is intended behavior. Most people search for a page by hostnames instead of protocol and hostname.

Summary: search bar includes false search results → search bar includes results for https://foo if I type http://foo
I consider it rude if people waste my time by filing duplicate reports.
Resolution: WONTFIX → DUPLICATE
Why is it intended behavior to allow for security holes? The user can be redirected from a secure site to a non secure site not because they wanted to but because of firefox. Even chrome fixed that as a security bug.
