This is a screen-cap of my outbox but I have confirmed with the recipient that they always recieve two e-mails from me. Note the date sent.
User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.3; WOW64; rv:34.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/34.0

Steps to reproduce:
Write and send a standard e-mail.
Actual results:
Two e-mails are sent to the recipient.
Expected results:
One e-mail be sent.

Can you reproduce with thunderbird.exe -safe-mode (Help | Restart with Add-ons disabled)

Yes. Two e-mails are always sent.

Just did that.
Seems that this wasn't the bug. It's only in my outbox that two e-mails appear.
Status: UNCONFIRMED → RESOLVED
