among the most well known equivalencies are [{ / }] there are others.

Not at all actually has quite a bit of merit, TiMeLeSS and timeless are two 
different users who sort of frequent undernet.  Only one of us can hold the 
nick, but I really don't like being confused w/ the other one.

having been watching people use this, I disagree.

The current behaviour matches very closely what users do -- they don't bother
capitalising nicks, but they do keep punctuation correct.
