User Story

This problem has not been going away for many weeks of nightly updates for my flame device from the "nightly" channel.

I am seeing regular UX issue with firefox os email app.

Typically the problem show in the morning when a lot of new mails are fetched.

Sometimes an individual new email is listed again and again for many screens full of scrolling, as shown in attachment 8552521 [details].

Sometimes the styling is completely broken, as shown in attachment 8547116 [details].

Please note the localized "Keine Nachrichten in diesem Ordner" which shows in German even after I switch my language settings to English.

The problem eventually rectifies itself after more new emails come in.

for the last two successive nightly updates interaction with the email app is almost impossible.

1. e.g. inbox message list cannot be scrolled or items clicked, except by trial and error with large physical offsets on screen.
2. german text "Keine Nachrichten in diesem Ordner" is displayed even for language choice english/US, meaning "No messages in this folder".
3. No unread message count is displayed.
4. Search Mail field cannot be interacted with

email inbox ui displays normally again today without software update.
I will try to watch out for what causes the ui issues, but it might not be reproducible under all circumstances.
I just flashed latest nightly master and do not see it, and given comment 2, seems like it was a transient issue. Will close for now but we can reopen if reproducible later.

Same message listed repeatedly ad nauseum.

This might be the same problem as bug 1124426, so relating the bugs together. Targeting a cache fix, likely will have something up for review tomorrow.

The first image looks a lot like what was happening in bug 1124426, so going to mark this as a duplicate to that bug (even though this one was filed first, we were able to track the problem with more info on the other bug). The fix is now in master, and I have asked for 2.2 uplift, which given the runtime info is the release you are on.

If you get a gaia update after that 2.2 uplift happens and this issue still shows up, please comment here and we will dig into it more.

I am a bit concerned that the duplicate message issue might be a separate issue, but we had some other backend fixes recently that should also uplift to 2.2, and would be good to have all those on the device to see how it behaves.

If it does show up after the update, the runtime info above is helpful to show the version/changeset as well as an `adb logcat` dump so we can see if there are any interesting errors or flow information in the log.

The "A log of what was happening around the time the problem happened" section of this page has details on how to capture the logcat information:
