If I press format -> text color, then it's only a palette of 7x10 colours.
I think that there should also be a full 24bit palette.
BTW, why isn't the inline colour selector next to the typeface dropdown
functional?

the palette as a workaround.

Yes, we would like to change to a more sophisticated colorpicker that would
access OS-specific colorpickers.
The colorpicker "buttons" (swatches) on the toolbar should work - file a
separate bug if they do not.

I also think that the "GIMP triangle" is a better colour selector, making it
easier to quickly find a desired colour. It was said to be part of GTK 2.
As for the toolbar colour picker, yes it works now.
