+++ This bug was initially created as a clone of Bug #1050232 +++ Bug 1050232 really improved our guided bug entry product selector. Unfortunately... I'm seeing people file a lot more Android bugs under plain "Firefox" [0]. I bet it's because they either use desktop to file, and don't see android on https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/enter_bug.cgi?format=guided, or because they file from android and the UA detection we do (at least, I assume we do some?) fails. :-( Let's consider how best to fix this... Some ideas I had: * move the product selector textbox above the big icons to encourage people to maybe type android and find Firefox for android, or something * fix the UA detection if we have it :-) * automatically switch the product to "Firefox for Android" if they select "Android" as a platform (NB: not sure how many people do this when filing the initial report, unfortunately... :-( ) Perhaps other people have other ideas? I've paged through the new ?format=guided and I bet this would be addressed if the checkbox at the bottom of page 3 ("[] This is a problem with Firefox on my phone or tablet.") were moved to page 2 and made a mandatory choice... thinking out loud: Step 2 of 3 | You are reporting a problem with Firefox. Firefox is poorly translated into my native language. What type of device are you using Firefox on? () a phone or tablet device () a 'traditional' laptop or desktop computer Please summarise your problem in one sentence: [________________________] And then the dupe search will search the correct product. Win-win. [As a tangent, I'm disappointed to see that "Product: Firefox (Change)" is still something that appears on the second and third pages of the sequence. I'd rather see something less cryptic, like Step 2 of 3 | You are reporting a bug in Firefox. Report a bug in some other Mozilla product ]

I believe we had that question earlier in the flow but it was changed following the review process. See Bug 1050232 Comment #25. I like the solution in Comment #1 of this bug (thanks Zack!) so I will see about adding that.

(In reply to Zack Weinberg (:zwol) from comment #1) > Step 2 of 3 | You are reporting a bug in Firefox. Report a > bug in some other Mozilla product > I like this too, and I'll take it under consideration after I make the other changes. Note: Step numbering is going away in the next set of patches.
